Yay, you found a great podcast!
Each and every podcast Lark and Jessie create are absolutely worth a listen! They are both fun, smart, and creative. On patreon they have a non-hierarchical support structure which is so rare to find and shows their commitment to be an anti-capitalism group. Also, there’s a sticker club available on Patreon :) Have a look at all their productions! I truly enjoy listening to their podcasts and supporting them on Patreon.

    Love it
Jessie and Lark are so funny, they have the best takes and the best laughs 😍.

    Just the best
I’ve loved this podcast for a very long time. I couldn’t believe my luck when they switched to a Star Trek podcast. It’s so good. Very funny and well formatted. I could listen for hours and hours. Oh wait, I have. They are such a comfort to me that I have followed every podcast they make even when I have not read/watched the content they are discussing.

    Love this podcast
It’s been about a decade since I watched TNG. I *could* rewatch it, but it’s way more fun to listen to these folks talk about it. I love the queer lens & witty comments. Totally in a parasocial relationship but not in a creepy way!
  • TeaAndChocolate
    Star Trek!!
I’m so excited this is now a Star Trek podcast. I love Lark and Jessie and can’t wait to hear their thoughts about TNG!!

    Love this
I just started listening from the beginning. This has been a wonderful discovery for when I am driving to/from work. Sometimes I end up laughing so hard that I think anyone who see me alone laughing in my car must think I am crazy. I am very much in favor of this becoming a Star Trek podcast. Thrilled that this is now a Star Trek show

    Smart and fun!
This came up as a suggestion as I was looking for Star Trek listening. The hosts are thinking about making this a Star Trek podcast and I am here to say: please please please do that! Their take on TNG is so interesting and fun. Yoi can tell they love Star Trek but at the same time will give it a critical lens. I also love how they have a structure to the episodes with topics like Health/Science and Politics etc. I can’t stand it when podcasts ramble and the hosts here stick to their structure while at the same time having fun with it.

Getting me to watch Star Trek
How are these two amazing people always getting me into new things. Please please be a Star Trek podcast.

    So much amazing content!
I’ve been listening to Hashtag Ruthless Productions for years at this point and I love all of their content so much. When I first started listening they were discussing a certain famous and beloved book series with an author who turned out to be extremely problematic. Listening to Lark and Jessie’s content was really helpful to me as I worked through the anger and disappointment of that. They always bring amazing insights along with lots of humor, and that remains the same no matter what media they are discussing. I highly recommend checking out all of their content (including patreon bonus content)

    Fun and Insightful
As always, Lark and Jessie make this podcast a delight! You’ll laugh, and then you’ll reflect on the meaning of life

    Fun and thoughtful
To be honest, I’d happily listen to Jessie and Lark talk about any type of media. I’m sure they could even manage to make a podcast episode about a late night infomercial entertaining. Thankfully—they consistently choose wonderful movies and shows to talk about and I may have especially squealed with delight over their recent podcast ep about the Strange New Worlds musical episode. I look forward to this podcast every week.

    Queer Neurodivergent Comfort
I feel like an alien most of the time and listening to Jessie and Lark talk about anything feels like a place to belong. Plus they’re good at what they do and continuously point out things I wouldn’t have noticed on my own. I love a queer perspective on media that isn’t obviously presented/accepted as queer. 💜

    Magical! (Happy Birthday Jessie)
A truly magical exploration of pop culture by some amazing people! I’ve been listening to this podcast since 2019 and over the years it has continued to change and grow for the better. It is radically thoughtful, funny and super queer. P.S. Happy Birthday Jessie

Burst of joy in my day
I love listening to you speak on things you’re passionate about, whatever they are. This is one of the most joy-filled podcasts in my rotation. I can’t wait to listen to EsGAYpe from Reality and continue to love your anti-capitalist approach to patreon. Thank you for putting your passion into the world

Neither a celebration nor a proper critique.
I was excited for this podcast, and was ready to love it. It purported to be exactly what I was looking for: fans of the books that bravely unpacked its problematic content and creator. Unfortunately I got endless boring nitpicking instead. The hosts spend all their time critiquing small elements of the story, fun elements which should be expected and loved in a whimsical fantasy children's story. Suspension of disbelief doesn’t exist for these two. Worse, they aren’t addressing the isms. They mentioned fat phobia a couple times, but skated right on by the ableism. If you claim to be interested in justice but don’t have time to address ableism, I have little time for you. Why start a “fan” podcast if you have no joy at all for the books? If you do, maybe mention things you like a couple times. It’s not a deep dive if you simply list what happens while snarking about it. The jokes fall flat. The format is clunky. It comes off as un-researched and disorganized. No editing to speak of. Not insightful in the least.

    idk how to write reviews
i really love this podcast! i’m a potterhead who has listened to almost exclusively harry potter pods and i LOOOVE the queer lens. don’t even get me started on trans hagrid 🥰 i’m a relatively baby gay at the ripe old age of 26 and i’ve been learning about queer terminology and culture on top of a funny and critical reread of my childhood. also a pleasant surprise has been the tarot education!! they can be quite harsh and nitpicky at times, but if you’re not here for critical fandom, you’re in the wrong place and we kinda don’t want you 🥴👻

    My New Comfort Podcast
Hello, Ravenclaw here and I’m am so happy I found this on Spotify. I am a mega Harry Potter nerd and don’t have many people as interested in it in my life. I’m also really happy that you addressed issues that JK made in the book and the fact that she is not a good person. I also love all the theories you make. I’m currently listening to 6A with full plans of binging this.

    This podcast sustains me
I’ve been listening for ages, why haven’t I reviewed this? It is absolutely ruthless, yes, but also so full of joy. Jessie and Lark’s laughter heals my heart. So does radical queer solidarity and careful interrogation of these texts that meant so much to me as a young adult. I’m a writer by trade, but I’m at a loss for words when it comes to trying to review one of my all-time favorite podcasts. This just podcast feels like home. Thank you Lark and Jessie for your wonderful tenacity and making so much of this fabulous critical world.
  • addisonkh
    Y’ALL. A must listen.
I joined the pod later in the game but I’m so glad I did. I get to spend time with funny, smart, critical thinkers every-ish week talking about a book series that enchanted most of my peers as we grew up and I only came to as an adult. I enjoy joining Jessie and Lark to look at the text through a critical, justice and liberation centered-lens…AND just laugh. The two of them, and this show, are a shining example of how we can have importance conversations about systems of oppression, practice our advocacy and activism, and be joyful!! Thank you, besties! 😘

It never fails to make me laugh, and the hot takes are fire!

    So affirming and entertaining!
As someone who loves Harry Potter but is deeply disappointed with the creator, I find the critical reading and musings of Jessie and Lark so affirming and entertaining. From the sound of their voices to their head canons to their ruthless application of logic is so delightful.

    Can’t imagine…
My life without this little podcast family. I gave it a chance even though it broke my cardinal rule of episodes longer than 30 minutes. But boy was it worth it! Years later, Lark and Jessie are a highlight of my week. Their critical lens is so helpful and necessary for me, as I don’t think I’d keep HP (or really any fun fantasy) in my life without them. Their nuance, accountability, caring, and humor make me so glad to be in a queer community with them!!! Also go listen to carry on and esgaype from reality, y’all!

    Spectacular
This podcast never fails to cheer me up. It continues to make me laugh until I cry and always leaves a smile on my face. Listening has helped me learn so many things about my own identity as a young queer person that the American school system has neglected. It makes the world a little brighter. Hands down my favorite podcast.

I just want to thank you for all the amazing content. I recently did a re-listen from the beginning and it was so amazing to hear all of our catch phrases from the intro. I got a little misty! I didn’t realize how much this podcast has informed my understanding of HP; to the point I was viscerally shocked when I heard Hagrid misgendered in the beginning- only to remember that was accepted as cannon through this podcast! Anyway, thank you for the eye opening perspectives and hilarious content - sorry for the “She Who Shall Not be Named,” style punctuation!
  • rhaynesie
    Hilarious, glorious and insightful
My sister introduced me to the podcast and I am hooked!
  • allendoucet
    Brilliant!
I, Grace, finally understand what it means to read critically; to engage with the text — something my high school English teachers failed to teach me… But seriously, this podcast is a gem! The HP commentary is so thoughtful and thought provoking. Jessie’s laugh is infectious, particularly when Lark says something hilarious that catches them both off guard.

I love you, I love you, I love you
First of all, I love this podcast. Every episode is a queer hug of validation. I’m also writing this to say that I just had the urge to re listen to your first episode and WOW Lark’s voice is SO different now! I barely recognize him in the first episode! As a trans person thinking of going on T this made me really happy and hopeful.
  • Netsrik789
I enjoy the critique and the laughs.
I just started listening and am loving engaging with the books I loved in a critical way. Most of all I love when they crack each other up. Life is stressful. Laughter is helpful.

    Funny, Honest, Queer & Witchcraft
Hilarious content about Harry Potter and queer undertones in the series. Honest about JKR’s crap. So wonderful and life affirming. I started at the beginning and I’m half way thru the 2nd book at the time of this review being written. The Pride episodes in the middle of book 2 are *chef’s kiss* This podcast has helped me think about my own identity/sexuality and I was able to come out to one of my friends as Ace and I attribute some of that strength to this Pod. WORTH ALL OF YOUR TIME!!!

    Reclamation
As a person who has managed my mental health through the Harry Potter series, it’s been pretty disheartening to live in a post she-who-must-not-be-named reality with this franchise. So thankful for some radical reclamations to allow this queer to continue deriving joy from these beloved and yet mysteriously unattributed texts. Thanks, y’all.

    Best. Podcast. Ever.
This is the podcast that I have always needed in my life- it certainly kept me sane through hours of editing my thesis. Love it!

    Best podcast ever
I just finished binge listening to the first, second, and third series. I can’t describe how much this podcast means to me; It always brings me so much joy.

    All I’ve ever wanted.
The best, most objective Harry Potter podcast I’ve ever listened to. Jessie and Lark are incredibly thoughtful and hilarious. I highly recommend having their instagram open while listening so you can have a multi sensory experience. Also Lark’s former nannying experience showed through in a lot of his takes on situations. As a former nanny myself I fell all of this HARD.

    The Best Podcast EVER!!!
This is my favorite podcast ever, I love it so much, it helped me come out to myself and my parents, and Lark and Jessi you are like my favorite people ever!!! And I can’t write to you on socials because I am 11, but I was listening to your semi-truck fanfic episode and I love it, but Hermione actually says “get in losers, were going shopping”. But she can also say that thing about Buffy 6.
  • V the finder
    I love this podcast!!!!
As a queer, trans teen who likes Harry potter, this is exactly the podcast I need! Listening to this show has helped refuel my love for the series, and has opened my eyes to a lot of subtext in the books I had never noticed before! This podcast. make me feel so accepted and loved, and listening to this podcast has helped me through many a hard time. When I listen to this podcast, I feel at home and as if I am with friends. I am so glad I found this podcast!
  • Guacamole929
    My all-time favorite podcast
As both a huge Harry Potter nerd, and someone who is still figuring out their place in the lgbtq+ community, this is my favorite podcast. I am constantly amazed by how Lark and Jessie manage to talk about serious topics like homophobia, racism, sexism and semicolons in Harry Potter and still do so with humor, love, and optimism. Honestly, just give it a try, you’ll be hooked. (Also if she sees this, get well soon Jessie!)
  • Imogenissima
    A gem of a podcast
As a straight, cis-gender listener who aspires to be an ally to LGBTQ people, I have learned so much from The Gayly Prophet. Lark and Jessie have created a space for an imaginative, inclusive conversation around Harry Potter. They put so much work into every episode. Thank you for making this podcast.
  • ivya778
    Love this podcast
I adore this podcast! Thank you so much for creating this space. I’ve been having a really rough time with HP the past few years (and honestly before that as well). It was so difficult to see how someone that created works that spoke to so many of us ended up with harmful views. It’s been so healing to have this podcast to listen to. As you go through the books, it really makes me appreciate the thing I enjoyed about the series while also recognizing its myriad of problems. This is what I love about the fandom- you’ve created a safe space for those of us who are queer and trans and POC to dissect these books. I especially loved the episode about Asian representation in the series. As a mixed South Asian person, I really appreciate the guests you had. And I fully support Harry as mixed Indian. And I honestly can’t stop thinking about Hagrid as trans, it’s fully in my brain now that she is. But anyway, thank you both for the work you do. It means a lot.
  • TeachingandTravelling
    Thank you from a teacher!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I love your podcast, as teacher, as a Hufflepuff, as a queer woman, as a person with disabilities, as someone with a ton of empathy for Remus Lupin, as an American of European heritage who teaches Indigenous students. I’m writing this at 8:30 PM from my classroom on a Sunday night, and your podcast helps me get through so much lesson planning. I’ve been a listener since 2019, and thank you thank you thank you for helping me love myself better, while also expanding my empathy for people with experiences that are not mine, especially when society can be so harsh and uncaring. I enjoy following you both on Instagram! Thank you for being delightful human beings in this world. :)
  • cakeontheroof
    Truly Healing, Hilarious
I’ve been listening for about 2 years now, and as a queer fan of HP since childhood, have been able to heal my connection to the series and super super appreciate Lark and Jesse for their compassionate, sharp witted critical appreciation of what Hogwarts means for us now.
  • talonsandtealeaves
    Phenomenal.
Jessie and Lark have been an absolute gift in dark times. They’ve pushed me to consider HP through so many lenses- and to learn to be more comfortable in my queerness. I have so much more cannon now! Crossover episodes with Witch, Please and WizardTeam/BGC are fire. After binging over the pandemic, I’m tragically stuck waiting for new episodes. 100000/10 definitely recommend…unless you hate joy and witches… but then you wouldn’t be here right? In closing, all due disrespect to scoundrel JKR.
  • twistedqueenhere
    ❤️👌✨🏳️‍🌈🦉
I feel like the above emojis title completely encompasses my feelings about this podcast. aka it’s amazing and I love it. With scoundrel JKR and her ongoing mission of ruining our childhoods (and our current world) I’m very grateful to have a sustainable source of HP-related content. Lark and Jessie are so creative, funny, and perceptive that I now see these books from a completely different lens. I also feel like they’re my cool, extra-woke queer aunts. So if this is sounding good to you (and why shouldn’t it??) then listen to this podcast! It’ll be worth your while.
